SCHOOL EDITION:

The School Edition contains two online training courses for educators: SEL: Awareness into Action and Implementing Transformative SEL.

COURSE TRAINING: SEL: AWARENESS INTO ACTION

This course is geared at raising your SEL intentions and practices to embed into all learning environments across the entire school community. Each lesson in modules 1-4 can be adapted for a 30-90 minute faculty or PLC meeting.  The whole module could be completed in an in-service professional development day. 

Each instructional video is an average of 6-8 minutes and is coupled with a mini-engagement lesson found in your School Edition Guidebook to cement the learning.

This module builds a solid foundation of the basics and benefits of social-emotional learning and how to begin the journey to embed SEL into the natural learning environment with integrity, efficacy, and sustainability.

MODULE 2: Cultivating a School Culture and Climate

This module supports the development of a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom and school culture and climate and helps participants support student voice and agency in the school setting. It raises intention and provides actionable strategies to prioritize embedding building relationships, student engagement, kindness, and respect into the fabric of the classroom learning environment.

MODULE 3: Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

This module helps participants shift to a student-centered discipline approach that raises students’ responsible decision-making skills and helps create a safe place for all students to learn and grow. Participants will focus on creating a discipline approach that educates the whole child, including implementing restorative practices through treatment lists and collaborative problem solving, constructing a classroom expected behavior matrix and reinforcement system, and a classroom creed and pledge puzzle. Participants will evolve their skill sets to improve upon their use of teacher feedback to provide honest, compassionate feedback to shape students’ social-emotional skills in the natural learning environment during teachable moments.

2) User-friendly and Engaging Guidebooks

Guidebooks complement each digital lesson and training,  containing all the core concepts in writing so you don’t miss a detail. They help you easily and efficiently implement the skills and strategies covered in each module, toolkit and community training. 

 

3) Online Community and Group Consultation

Schools are provided access to a private Facebook group where participants are invited to collaborate in an online community with other educators across the nation.  Members can use the platform to share their own ideas, tips, strategies, and stories with one another.

Also included with this membership are live Q & A group consultations. Members can submit their questions via the training portal. All events will be recorded and posted for future viewing.

All trainings and guidebooks are located in one online portal for your entire school community to access in their space and time, and in ways that best fit their individual needs.

This online portal is perfect for training your staff during in-service professional development days, faculty meetings, and/or PLC meetings. It can also help maintain your efforts by streamlining training for incoming and new staff each year.

Q. How will I know this program will work?


A. This program combines and utilizes research-driven and evidence-based practices drawn from over 150 pieces of evidence and recommendations from the leading experts in the field, including CASEL. We put our education, training, and research to work for you to take the guesswork out of this process.

As educators, we also understand the value of gathering data and reflecting on our practices, so this program will evolve based on the feedback we receive. This way, we can provide the best SEL program available.

 

That being said, a great program is just a plan. It requires dedicated individuals to carry it out. This is why it typically takes three full school years to implement SEL. You’ll have some faculty members dive in eagerly, others resist entirely, and the rest fall somewhere in the middle. As the eager faculty members see results, others will follow, but this process requires time, persistence, and patience.
